What Are Dentures?

what are dentures
To put it simply, dentures are replacements for missing teeth which can be taken in and out of your mouth.

The picture above shows a partial denture, where fake teeth are attached to a fake gum and a metal rod - all of which will be attached to your surrounding teeth to keep it in place.

Since the gums are flesh-colored, and teeth look the same as your real ones, most people won't be able to tell that you have them on.

Of course, there are also other types of dentures known as conventional ones and immediate full ones.

You may need a little of getting used to them, and eating or speaking may take a little practice.

If you experience excessive saliva flow or minor soreness, rest assured that these are usually normal symptoms. However, if they do get more severe or last for extremely long periods of time, seek your local dentist's advice.

Due to wear and tear, you may need to visit the dentist to do an annual checkup for your dentures.
