Root Canal Treatment

root canal treatment
This treatment is usually used when the severity of tooth decay is so bad that nearly the entire tooth is 'dead'.

During a root canal treatment,
the pulp from the middle of your tooth will be removed and re-filled.

This seeks to prevent the chance of an infection in the decayed pulp which may spread to other teeth or other parts of your mouth.

First of all, your gums would be numbed and a local anesthetic would be given.

Your other teeth may be separated from the decayed tooth with a small sheet or rubber.

The pulp from your decayed tooth is then removed using a drill, and the now 'empty' tooth is then filled up with final root canal treatment fillers.
